ABOUT NATHANIEL BURKE

Mr. Burke was born in Manhattan, New York City, in 1963. The early portion of his life centered around his education, including undergraduate studies at Boston University where he wrestled on the varsity team. He spent his Junior Year with the school studying abroad in Madrid Spain and became fluent in Spanish. In 1986, he graduated and returned to Madrid where Nathaniel earned a degree in teaching English as a Second language.

He earned his law degree at the University of Miami Law School in 1991, where he was President of the Criminal Law Society and the Student Representative for the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.

WHAT IS CRIMMIGRATION?

This is a term of art used to describe legal services provided to our non-U.S. citizen clients who may face deportation or “removal”, following the closure of their criminal cases. Such representation includes but is not limited to political asylum, voluntary departure, or “cancellation of removal”. In some cases, “stipulated deportation” may save clients a lengthy prison sentence. It is an ever changing and evolving practice of law, as legislative changes direct different law enforcement agencies, such as I.C.E, (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), under the auspices of Homeland security, to place ICE holds on our criminal clients who are not US citizens.
